How to invite teammates and set permissions
Add people to a project, give them the right role, and transfer ownership when you need to.
What you'll do
You'll invite a teammate to one of your projects and choose how much they can do. Working together beats forwarding screenshots, and the right role keeps everyone in their lane.
Team collaboration is part of the Builder plan and up — on the free Explorer and Starter plans a project has a single seat (just you).
Step 1 — Open the team area
Open the project you want to share, then go to its team or collaborators area.
This is where you'll see who already has access and any invitations still waiting for a reply.
Step 2 — Send the invitation
- Choose the option to invite or add someone.
- Type the person's email address.
- Choose a role for them (more on roles below).
- Send the invitation.
They'll get an email asking them to join. Until they accept, they show up as pending, and you can resend or cancel that invite at any time.
Step 3 — Pick the right role
Each person gets one role that decides what they can touch:
- Viewer — can look at the project but can't change anything. Great for clients or stakeholders who just want to follow along.
- Guest — a stricter read-only role for outside stakeholders: they can view, but can't edit, comment or share.
- Editor — can edit the build and publish changes. Best for the people doing the work day to day.
- Admin — can do almost everything, including managing other teammates and most settings. Save this for people you fully trust.
Every project also has one Owner — that's you, until you transfer it (see below) — who holds the final say over everything. You can change someone's role later from the same team area, so it's fine to start cautious and open things up.
Step 4 — Transfer ownership (only if needed)
Every project has one owner, and only the owner can hand the project to someone else.
If you're passing a project to a colleague for good, open the team area and choose to transfer ownership to them. They become the new owner, and you stay on with another role. Do this carefully, as the owner holds the keys to everything.
Inviting someone to your whole team
Everything above adds a person to one project. If you want someone alongside you across your work, invite them to your team instead: open Team from your dashboard and add their email address.
They'll get an email with a link to join. The same roles apply, the same 7-day expiry applies, and the invitation uses one of your plan's seats from the moment you send it — so cancel any you no longer need.
Tips
- The number of teammates depends on your plan: Builder includes 5 seats, Accelerator 15, and Enterprise up to 25. If you hit your limit, upgrade for more.
- Give the least access that still lets someone do their job. You can always raise a role later.
- Pending invites expire after 7 days if they're not accepted, so nudge teammates who haven't joined yet.
